Sprite Vanilla Frost: Weird and Unremarkable

Several, perhaps many, years ago I was informed of the unique taste of the Vanilla Sprite available in Coke Freestyle machines. The next time I went to see a movie, I tried the drink, and, to be honest, it was pretty awful. I thought that the flavors just didn't go well together and that it was one of the worst beverages I had had out of a Freestyle machine. Fast forward to the latter half of last year: the word of vanilla-flavored Sprite was spreading again, this time in the form of an official LTO, exclusive to Kroger-owned locations. Due to my previous experience with the customization option, I was cautiously interested in trying the flavor out in a more finalized capacity once it released.
Sprite Vanilla Frost doesn't taste exactly the same as the Freestyle combination, thankfully. It is, however, not entirely dissimilar. I find that the sheer fact that this drink isn't mixed with the syrupy remnants of dozens of other beverages left on a non-pristine soda dispenser lends itself to Sprite Vanilla Frost having a more refined and clear flavor profile. At its core, it's Sprite, but with vanilla.
Is it good? I don't know. I've had nearly a dozen of them now, and I don't really think I'm going to miss this drink once I run out of it. It isn't gross or even unpleasant; I just find this soda unremarkable. A fun novelty to have in the 2024 holiday season, sure, but I wouldn't be surprised if Coca-Cola doesn't reprise this paricular offering.
